As a child, when my father would read
poetry, I would be pending from his lips for hours. When my grandmother was
playing the piano or when my mother was singing, I was enchanted and can
still hear them over fifty years later. Sculptors, painters, writers,
cinematographers were close friends of my family and later of myself. I
heard, I saw, I loved and admired them. Television did not exist and radio
was not intrusive, that is true! But today, kids are manipulated by the
media offering programs of dubious quality.
I thought of Kids and I
to expose children to something good and fun, like I was.
Problem: kids appreciate quality and quality does not come cheap. My
friends and I want to put something good together, but our efforts alone are
not enough and not all professionals are willing to volunteer. We need to
raise enough money to provide professional performances and products for
children.
How:
by selling my friends products or
performances, launching raffles of products or services given by the
residents of La Piazza and auctioneering kid’s crafts.
A large part of the income will be donated to Kids and I.
My friends are my readers, they are planning to put together a
committee to manage and control Kids and I donations together
with an accountant and a lawyer. I will be part of the committee, the host
of the City Center and of the Kid’s Room, and will help with
contributions.
I am convinced that kids retain everything and assimilate it when they are
ready, so I would say that
Kids and I
is perfect for all ages,
certainly from 4 to 12.
Parents, grandparents and relatives may be our best allies, at least to
break the ice, and I will be glad to hear from them on My Blog.
Until then, I will offer kids what I can do myself:
stories, recipes and books.
And, to the kids relatives, good Italian products made especially for kids!
