Whole Wheat Tramezzini with Prosciutto and Walnuts
Tramezzini di Pane Integrale con Prosciutto e Noci

6 tablespoons butter, softened
12 slices whole-wheat sandwich bread, crusts
removed
1⁄2 cup mayonnaise
4 ounces prosciutto, thinly sliced
1 cup walnuts, shelled and diced



Spread the butter on 1⁄2 of the slices of bread and the mayonnaise on the remaining slices. Place 2 slices of prosciutto, or enough to cover the surface, on the bread slices with mayonnaise and sprinkle each buttered slice of bread with the walnuts, pressing lightly to adhere. Place the prosciuttomayonnaise slices on top of the butter-walnut slices and cut the tramezzini in 1⁄2 on a diagonal.
Serves 8

Wine Suggestion, dry aromatic white or juicy mediumbodied red
